The competences and commitment standards as outlined by UK SPEC and ICT Tech Standard for each criterion are available to download below.
All candidates should download the complete UK-SPEC before starting an application, this can be downloaded from the Engineering Council website.
Please note that before applying for professional registration, you must be a member of the IET. For more information, please visit the IET membership page or contact the Join Team on +44(0)1438 767648.
Fellowship
IET Fellowship is awarded to individuals who have sustained high levels of achievement, for example through leadership, influence, senior responsibility, innovation and professional service at the forefront of engineering, technology or cognate disciplines for a period of five years or more. Defence Engineer Registration Schemes (DERS) for Armed Forces
These routes have been defined by a series of benchmarks which form the eligibility criteria for certain categories of registration, making the application process more streamlined. Please note that even if you are in the Armed Forces and do not meet the SRA criteria for your branch, you can still apply for professional registration via the standard route if you meet the required competence and commitment standard outlined in UK SPEC.

Supporting candidates
Advisor Training at MOD Abbey Wood
Are you a professionally registered engineer?
Would you like to assist candidates to complete their applications and to present their case in a way that will assist the registration panel in their assessment? Are you looking for local CPD opportunities?
The IET is running a training day to become a DE&S IET Professional Registration Advisor (PRA) at Abbey Wood.
Professional Registration Advisors (PRAs) are volunteers with detailed knowledge of the professional registration requirements who give their time to instruct registrants and potential registrants to advise on the presentation aspect of making a formal application for CEng, IEng, EngTech and ICTTech. They will also be able to advise on the presentation aspect of making a formal application.
DE&S runs two IET Company Based Registration Schemes each year, and once trained you will be asked to volunteer and support the schemes. If you would like to act as a PRA to the local area, you can opt to do so, but this is not a requirement. You will only be asked to advise those on the schemes at Abbey Wood.
Becoming a PRA is an excellent way to support your development towards Fellowship; or to contribute significantly towards your Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Please register your interest by submitting completing the application form which can be found below. All applications should then be forwarded to Nick Brown:
