Electrical power systems protection

ALL CAREER STAGES   |  UK-SPEC: A,B,E  |  FOUR HALF-DAYS  |  ONLINE

A stable, reliable and continuous electricity supply is a fundamental pillar of our overall well-being and economic prosperity. The operation of an electrical power system can within milliseconds change from the normal operation (no faults) into disturbed operation where protection systems respond after the occurrence of faults.

To understand behaviour under fault conditions, in-depth technical expertise is required across the three functional areas of the power system: protection, operations and planning. The coordination is only possible with a sound understanding of protection principles and system interactions.

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary knowledge in the field of power system protection and by this, build a foundation for interdisciplinary cooperation in the management of critical power infrastructure.
