IET Academy FAQ's

Why is the IET Academy closing?

The IET Academy launched back in 2018 as an online learning and development platform for the engineering community.

However, since launch and despite best endeavours by both our internal and partner teams, trading for the IET Academy has fallen below our expectations – particularly post-pandemic.

As such, we will be winding down the existing operation by the end of 2023 and will close upon expiry of our current platform contract in December.

We are currently reviewing our entire learning and development approach so do stay connected with us over the coming months to receive all the latest news on this work. 

Can I download my course files?

Unfortunately, due to copyright, downloading the course files is not possible but you have access to the course until 1 December 2023 to make as many notes as you need.

Will I be able to access my learning profile after the 1 December?

No, you will need to make sure you have accessed all your learning material and downloaded your certificates before this date.

How do I access my certificates?

To download your course certificates, please log into your Academy profile via the SSO on the Academy site (login button top right).

You will land on the home page and then need to click “My Activity” on the header and will then see a dashboard with your recent courses displayed. To the left, there will be a link to “Certificates” – click here and you will be able to see and download all the certificates available to you.

I didn’t have the opportunity to add my CPD hours from my completed Academy course to my Career Manager profile, what do I do?

I need a VAT invoice for an Academy purchase, who do I contact?

I purchased on behalf of a business and need to check the status of my colleagues’ course progress, how do I do this?

If you are a course facilitator, you will continue to be able to monitor course progression via your profile until the 1 December. If you have any further questions, please email academy@theiet.org 

I completed my 18th Edition training and now want to book my exam, is this still possible?
