Gaining professional registration in the REME

Which criteria are right for me?

Be a serving member of the REME at time of submission of application or, exceptionally and with the agreement of each of the REME and the IET, have left the Branch/Corps within twelve months of application for Registration;

Be a serving member of the REME at time of submission of application or, exceptionally and with the agreement of each of the REME and the IET, have left the Branch/Corps no more than twelve months prior to their application for Registration; and

Be a serving member of the REME, including the REME Reserve, at time of submission of application, or, exceptionally and with the agreement of both the REME and the IET, have left the REME no more than twelve months prior to their application for Registration; and

Hold the substantive rank of Captain or above; and

Hold the substantive rank of at least SSgt; and

Hold a NVQ L3 qualification in their trade or be a Class One.

Have completed an OC LAD post or appointment holding similar levels of responsibility.

Have completed a Technical Engineering Appointment in the substantive rank, post completion of training, for at least 2 years

A suitable qualification at QCF3 (or SCQF or EQF equivalent) or above; or

Completion of a programme leading to NVQ L3;

An accredited Bachelors’ degree with honours in engineering or technology, plus either an appropriate Masters’ degree accredited by a professional engineering institution, or evidence of additional learning to Masters’ level; or

An appropriate Bachelors’ degree in engineering or technology. A degree accredited by Engineering Council is ideal, but most reputable Bachelors’ degrees in engineering or technology are acceptable; or

OR

Clear demonstration to the satisfaction of the IET achievement of the same level of knowledge and understanding as the above.

Examples of training and experience leading to the same level of personal technical contribution are required.

An accredited integrated MEng degree; or

Hold the substantive rank of Captain or above; and completed an OC LAD post or appointment holding similar levels of responsibility and completed the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Land) (ICSC(L)), complemented by the Battlespace

A Level 5 or Level 6 Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) qualification (or equivalent) in engineering or technology, plus evidence of appropriate additional learning, including work-based learning (for example completion of WO ALDP); or

 

Hold the substantive rank of Captain or above; and completed an OC LAD post or appointment holding similar levels of responsibility and completed the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Land) (ICSC(L)), complemented by the Battlespace Technology Course (BTC) and/or Technical Employment Package (TEP).  Applicants who have done this, in addition to the technical training should meet the requirement for UK&U at Masters’ level. 

Clear demonstration to the satisfaction of the IET achievement of the same level of knowledge and understanding as the above.

Applicants who have completed ICSC(L) (or expect to shortly) should also indicate whether they have also completed BTC and/or TEP; or
