Gaining professional registration in the REME

Which criteria are right for me?

Hold the substantive rank of Captain or above.

Hold the substantive rank of SSgt or above.

Hold NVQ L3 in your trade or if you’re a Class One.

Completed an OC LAD post, or appointment holding similar levels of responsibility.

Completed a Technical Engineering Appointment in the substantive rank, post completion of training for at least two years.

 

Have an accredited Bachelors’ degree with honours in engineering and technology, plus either an accredited Masters’ degree, an accredited MEng degree or evidence of learning to Masters level.

Have an accredited Bachelors’ or Foundation degree in engineering and technology, or a Higher National Certificate or diploma, plus evidence of additional learning (including work-based learning).

We believe in the value of experience as well as education. That’s why they’ll consider your application if you don’t meet the above requirements but can prove you have the same level of knowledge and understanding.

  • Military/MOD computers might have trouble downloading the application pack. If you have any problems please email armedforces@theiet.org.
  • All military personnel are also able to apply via the standard route of application, providing you meet the Engineering Council requirements.
