Paul Deards
Publisher
Paul leads the editorial team for the IET Academic Books programme and is based in the UK. He has over fifteen years’ experience commissioning and publishing research-level books across a number of technical disciplines, with positions at Wiley and, now, the IET.
Val Molière
Senior Commissioning Editor

Val is Senior Commissioning Book Editor with over 20 years of publishing experience, having worked for Artech House Books, John Wiley and Sons Inc. and Wiley VCH. She is now based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Christoph von Friedeburg

Christoph has been working in editorial and management capacities for international publishers since 2004, including John Wiley & Sons and De Gruyter, taking care of various topics. He studied physics at UCL and University of Heidelberg, where he earned his doctorate in atmospheric sciences. His research has been published in several journal papers.
After a term as Research Fellow to Washington, DC-based Worldwatch Institute, working on renewable energy, he is advising Berlin-based Germanwatch e.V. and serves on the board of a state level policy panel on energy and climate policy. He is based in Berlin.
Sarah Lynch

Sarah joined the IET in 2016, working briefly in the practitioner publishing department, and then joining the academic books team in 2017. Her previous experience includes commissioning books for Woodhead Publishing’s series in textiles in association with the Textile Institute, and electronic and optical materials books for Elsevier. Sarah is based in the UK.
Amber Thomas
Commissioning Editor
Areas of expertise:
Amber has been a Commissioning Editor with the IET since 2016. She currently manages the Healthcare Technology series having moved across from the Radar, Antennas and Electromagnetics portfolio in 2018. She has held previous commissioning roles at ICE Publishing, commissioning civil engineering books, and at Informa Books, managing Radiology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Science and Law projects.
Amber has a degree in Chemistry with Analytical Science and worked as a food analyst until 2010 before swapping over to a career in publishing.
Nicki Dennis

- Defence technologies.
Nicki’s publishing career spans 30 years, with highlights including Head of Books Publishing at the Institute of Physics and Head of Market Development at BSI. She is now a publishing consultant based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and counts the IET’s electromagnetic waves, radar and defence technology book commissioning among her responsibilities.
