Policy Keys - email alerts

Email alerts for new consultations as they arise in your chosen areas of expertise.

The Policy Department has made it easier for you to become involved in government consultations and make sure that your views are heard. We have created a number of "Policy Keys" which alert you to new consultations in your chosen area, as and when they arise. The keys are arranged in topic areas, divided up as follows:

  • Built Environment
  • Communications
  • Education
  • Energy
  • Future of Science and Engineering in the UK
  • Health and Safety
  • Information Technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Northern Ireland affairs
  • Research and Innovation
  • Scottish affairs
  • Transport
  • Welsh affairs

Please note that these are broad headings and cover all aspects of each subject. In particular, the Welsh affairs policy key will cover topics related to devolved Welsh policy e.g. transport, education etc. A consultation may impinge on more than one Policy Key topic area. In this case all relevant topic areas will be notified. We try to ensure only one email goes out to people who have registered in more than one area but on occasion you may receive more than one message.

To make use of this service, all you need to do is visit "My IET"

  • Select MyInterests (ensure the 'Email Subscriptions & Preferences' tab is selected)
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page - 'Government consultations'
  • Select which areas you are interested in (you may select as many as you wish)
  • Click on the 'update' button

You will then receive email messages alerting you to live consultations in those areas and be invited to contribute to the IET's submission.  Please note you will not be sent a confirmation email upon registering.

You have to be registered with the website (i.e. have a website login name) to use this facility. Registration is free.

Contributions to IET submission can only be accepted from IET members.
