Full STEM ahead at IET London: Savoy Place

15 February 2018

Client feedback and new event bookings has further enhanced IET London: Savoy Place as the unparalleled venue of choice for tech driven events, with 59% confirmed and contracted bookings returning for 2018.

This comes off the back of the best 12 months seen at the venue for STEM events (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) since it re-launched almost three years ago, and cements Savoy Place as London’s leading tech events hub.

Don’t just take our word for it, delegates, robots, hackers, drones, even an astronaut have taken residence in Savoy Place for their events at some point over the last 12 months. Over 117,000 delegates passed through the venues doors last year to attend 2,077 events; this accounted for a 16% increase in confirmed bookings in 2017 compared to the previous year, including a record 463 external client STEM events.

Ongoing investments, new AV equipment and production lighting in the Kelvin Lecture Theatre, the largest events space, has created a more integrated space for high-spec gala dinners and award ceremonies.

Digital upgrades, including installing new projection walls and pre-programmable lighting systems have maintained Savoy Place’s position at the forefront of digital innovation. These improvements contributed to new and returning clients which include Royal Television Society, Secure Data, Heathrow Airport, HS2 and Cyber Security Challenge UK.

Sean Spencer, head of venues and facilities at IET Venues commented: “Every year we strive to better the last, and I’m pleased that Savoy Place has strengthened its position in the corporate STEM events markets. The financial and technical infrastructure investments within the venue means clients from multiple sectors can take advantage of our digital offer and plans for the future will ensure we continue to evolve as a venue.”
