Welcome from the editor
Welcome to the March-April issue of Member News magazine.
In this issue, we showcase our recent media coverage highlights from outlets across the world, ranging from national titles including CNBC and LBC News, to regional radio stations and key engineering and technology trade publications.
We explore quantum technologies and look at how they can make a real impact in benefiting society and improving our economy. We also find out about the crucial developments happening in the advanced air mobility space, including a pioneering electric air taxi project launching in Dubai.
In our latest member profiles, we get to know our 2024 Young Woman Engineer of the Year Marisa Kurimbokus and find out how she hopes to use this platform to inspire the next generation. We also meet volunteer and member Ashvin Selvakannan, who shares his advice for young engineers wanting to broaden their horizons and build strong and meaningful networks. And we sit down with Cezara-Lidia Jalba and learn how she attained her professional registration title.
We shine a spotlight on our exceptional new honorary fellows and catch up with the IET Young Professionals Sri Lanka team on celebrating 30 years of excellence.
As always, the success of Member News relies on the stories we are able to tell, and we want to showcase the incredible work our members and volunteers are doing to engineer a better world for us all. If you would like to get in touch, please email membernews@theiet.org – we would love to hear from you!
And don’t forget, we will be exploring subjects featured in the magazine in more depth across our social channels, such as EngX, and we encourage you to join the conversation.
We hope you enjoy this issue.
