The IET will be hosting an in conversation evening and book signing with global superstar and IET Honorary Fellow will.i.am, and renowned futurologist Brian David Johnson following the launch of their new book WaR: Wizards and Robots, which is aimed at teenagers.
Taking place on Wednesday 7 February at IET London: Savoy Place, will.i.am and Brian will share their thinking behind their explosive action-adventure novel where wizards are real, robots from the future are here, and the fate of our world rests in the hands of one unsuspecting teenager.
Musician, global hip hop artist, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and technology enthusiast will.i.am is committed to inspiring the next generation of engineers, innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
He is an enthusiastic user of technologies in both his professional and personal life, fusing the worlds of technology, culture, fashion, and artificial intelligence across his work. He was awarded an IET Honorary Fellowship in November 2017 for his outstanding contribution to the engineering profession.
The future is Brian David Johnson's business. As a futurist he works with organisations to develop an actionable 10 -15 year vision and what it will feel like to live in the future. Johnson has worked with governments, trade organisations, start-ups and multinational corporations to not only help envision their future but specify the steps needed to get there.
The event will be chaired by design engineer and 2012 IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year Yewande Akinola and there will be the opportunity to ask will.i.am and Brian questions. This will be followed by a book signing sponsored by Waterstones where there will be a chance to buy books and have them signed on the night.
This family event is sold out but there is a waiting list for IET members and their families to register if you are interested in attending. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The event will be filmed and will be available on demand on IET.tv afterwards. If you would like to ask will.i.am and Brian David Johnson a question about their book or engineering and technology, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, 5 February 2018 with your question for a chance to have this read out at the event.
