What resources are available on the Virtual Library?

The Virtual library offers eBooks from Knovel, EBSCO and Wiley, and a wide range of eJournals and business information from EBSCOhost databases. These resources were chosen to help IET members of all categories with their professional development and research needs.

We also provide access to Ancestry, British Newspaper ArchiveIEEExplore, a range of standards from BSI, Inspec and the IET Digital Library (see the difference between the Virtual Library and the Digital Library). However, these are only accessible onsite in the IET Knowledge Centre at Savoy Place.

How can I find relevant resources on the Virtual Library?

The most efficient way to search the Virtual Library is to use the EBSCO Discovery Service, which can also be accessed via the search box at the top of the main Virtual Library page. This powerful search tool allows you to search our entire range of eResources, and narrow your search by keyword, title, publication date and other criteria and filters. Watch an EBSCO Discovery Service video tutorial (5 minutes). You can search individual platforms and databases we subscribe to listed on our Database and eResource A-Z.

Reading Lists specially curated to aid your research and introduce you to our collections are published monthly. Members also benefit from free assistance with research and using our collections via our Research and document supply services.

What is the difference between the Virtual Library and the Digital Library?

The Virtual Library provides online books and journals selected for IET members that are mainly not published by the IET.

The IET Digital Library provides online full-text access to journals, books and conferences published by the IET - members can gain some offsite access by using their Knowledge pack credits.
