IET commentary: Cyber Growth Action Plan launched by Government
Commenting on the launch of the governments new Cyber Growth Action Plan, Head of Policy at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Stephanie Baxter, said: "The £16 million Cyber Growth Action Plan is a strong step toward strengthening the UK’s cyber resilience.
"It’s not just about funding – it’s about unlocking innovation, creating jobs, and helping SMEs scale with the right technical and managerial skills.
"Our 2025 IET Skills Survey shows cyber security is both a top priority and the hardest digital skill to recruit for. Employers are turning to upskilling and tech investment to bridge the gap.
"Cyber threats aren’t a future risk – they’re a present danger. And cyber resilience isn’t just for IT teams – it’s everyone’s responsibility.
"That’s why flexible funding to upskill existing workers, especially in SMEs, is vital. We need a cultural shift in cyber awareness to protect our economy, our businesses, and our people."
