Engineering and Technology Apprentice
Award for an apprentice on an IET Accredited Apprenticeship to recognise someone you are proud of, who stands out for their passion and has been making achievements in their apprenticeship.
We'd love to hear about apprentices who are role models to others and are passionate about promoting engineering to the world.
Criteria
- The apprentice must be on, or completed within the last year, an IET Approved Apprenticeship scheme
- They don’t have to be an IET member / professionally registered
Tell us why they should win
- Show how they are making substantial contributions towards their employer or operational area, e.g. towards the development of a new product, service or process
- How have they gone above and beyond in their role, and why?
- Show evidence of engineering ambassadorial work
The prize
A trophy, certificate, £2000 and two years’ free IET membership.
Engineering and Technology Technician
Award for a technician in an engineering and technology technical support role to recognise the exceptional contribution to the profession with emphasis on how they have demonstrated commitment to engineering or technology through their technical and professional development.
Criteria
- The technician can be in any sector (e.g. engineering,technology, academic) in any country.
- They don’t have to be an IET member / professionally registered.
Tell us why they should win
- Show how have they demonstrated outstanding engineering or technical understanding and ability in the workplace
- How have they gone above and beyond expectations of their role, and why?
- Nominations are welcome for engineering technicians in supporting roles within the engineering, technology or academic sectors around the world, including United Kingdom MOD civil servants.
The prize
A trophy, certificate, £2000 and two years’ free IET membership.
Armed Forces Technician Award
Award for an Armed Forces engineering technician to recognise their engineering contribution to the profession.
Criteria
- Nominees must be currently serving in the UK Armed Forces
- They should be OR1-OR7 only.
- They don’t have to be an IET member / professionally registered.
Tell us why they should win
- Show how they have demonstrated outstanding engineering or technical ability, and how they have gone above and beyond to do this.
- What ambassadorial STEM activities have they have been part of.

The prize
A trophy, certificate, £2000 and two years’ free IET membership.
