Personal data is processed under the lawful basis of contractual purposes and as applicable, consent or legitimate interest, depending on your country of residence.
The IET ensure that personal data is subject to appropriate safeguard transfer mechanisms when processed outside the UK and EEA, this includes where an IET Journal partner is located outside the UK or EEA.
You may contact the IET Journal partner directly to exercise your personal data rights, in particular if you are an editor on the editorial board established by the Journal partner.
You have the following rights in respect of your personal data processed by the IET:
- The right of access - to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to rectification where your personal information is inaccurate or

If you have any cause to believe the IET has not processed personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation please contact the IET Data Protection Officer in the first instance at PrivacyOffice@theiet.org.
You may also raise a complaint with your Supervisory Authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
If you are located in the EU/EEA you may raise a complaint with the IET’s EU GDPR Representative - European Data Protection Office (EDPO). You can contact EDPO regarding matters pertaining to the GDPR by using EDPO’s online request form or by writing to EDPO at Avenue Huart Hamoir 71, 1030 Brussels, Belgium.
