Agreement between the Engineering Council and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
The Engineering Council have reached an agreement with the NCEES.
This agreement only applies to CEngs and Professional Engineers (P.Es) (from a participating state) who are also registered as ‘International Professional Engineers’ (IntPEs).
UK Chartered Engineers seeking recognition in the US should go to ncees.org to request an account and build their NCEES record. Guidance is available throughout the process and by emailing help@ncees.org.
Once an applicant has obtained their NCEES ID, they can complete the proforma, which is available on the Engineering Council website, and send it to international@engc.org.uk to request confirmation of their registration.
The Engineering Council will request written confirmation of the applicant's permission to contact the IET to verify an applicant’s current standing. Following receipt of this information, the form will be signed by the Engineering Council, and confirmation of good standing will be sent to the NCEES, being added to the applicant's NCEES record.
Registered P.E/IntPEs seeking CEng registration in the UK must be Members of the IET or must join the IET before the assessment of their application.
The applicant should contact help@ncees.org to initiate the process and confirm their P.E license/IntPE registration, good standing and that they are applying for CEng registration through the IET.
The NCEES will arrange to send this information, alongside the applicant’s NCEES record, to the Engineering Council, who will arrange to send the information to the IET. Once the IET has received the information, a member of the team will contact the applicant with a view to initiating the application process and collecting the application fee.
Please note that an applicant’s NCEES record will be used for the assessment, however, the IET has discretion to request additional information for clarification. Applicants must complete the standard registration form with provide the full assessment fee before the application process commences.
