Smart Cities – Time to involve the People

Research undertaken by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has found that, despite considerable investment by the UK government, local authorities and businesses, there is a basic lack of awareness among the British public about what a smart city is, does, and its potential to improve citizens’ quality of life.

The findings of the survey will be launched at a special ‘Smart Cities’ conference stream at All-Energy 2016, which is taking place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference in Glasgow on 4-5 May.

The IET firmly believes that people, their needs and wishes are the most important consideration when it comes to taking UK cities forward.
