S944 - Draft aviation policy framework

Draft Aviation Policy Framework: IET comments to the Department for Transport.

Abstract In order to address the challenge of growing global aviation traffic the Government needs to ensure that aviation policy is long term and demonstrates integration between all transport modes to minimize the risks which can be created from infrastructure interdependencies thus providing a more resilient transport system. Such integration should be pursued where this provides an optimal way to achieve policy objectives such as economic growth, mitigating environmental damage or providing international connectivity. UK aviation policy should also fit into a wider transport strategy which is developed by utilising a systems thinking approach.
