S912 - Malware and cyber crime

Inquiry on Malware and cyber crime: BCS, IET and Royal Academy of Engineering comments to the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee.

The Government should help tackle the spread of malware to reduce the impact on the UK economy. It should also provide incentives to businesses to protect individuals against such losses. The Government’s cyber crime strategy should include education through increasing the level of advice it provides to the public about information security; deploys products that have security actively designed into them; introduce more effective legislation that will lead to convictions; and encourage other countries to establish appropriate legislation that enables the successful prosecution of criminals who are committing cyber crime.
