Innovate Israel event featured numerous engaging talks from rising stars of the Israeli tech scene.
UK Israel Business, the bilateral chamber of commerce, brought together some of Israel’s leading entrepreneurs at the IET’s Savoy Place back in September for Innovate Israel, a conference showcasing an array of Israeli tech businesses, including disruptive start-ups, to an audience of UK corporates.
The event’s format consisted of a morning of short ‘TED-style’ talks on topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, energy efficiency and intelligent urban transport from speakers including Matteo de Renzi of on-demand mobility company Gett, headquartered in Tel Aviv; Yali Saar from automated branding specialist Tailor Brands and Menashe Haskin, co-founder of augmented reality platform Edgybees.
Innovate Israel also offered an opportunity to celebrate the growing business relationship between the two companies. UK Israel Business reports that since last June alone, 32 Israeli companies have created almost 900 jobs in the UK, with more looking to set up there, and Britain is now the top destination for Israeli foreign direct investment in Europe, with more than 300 Israeli companies now operating in the UK.
In the past year UK Israel Business has organised three investment and technology delegations from the UK to Israel, and the next one is being led by Bradley Fried, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of England from 19 to 22 November, followed by another in January 2018 focused on technology for the property industry.
“We decided to curate some of the most interesting, most exciting and most disruptive companies that we’ve seen, and bring them to London for a UK audience … to really help explain a bit more about the Israeli start-up mentality and scale-up mentality,” said Hugo Bieber, Chief Executive of UK Israel Business.”
