HM The King becomes IET Patron
His Majesty King Charles III is now patron of the IET.
King Charles received an Honorary Fellowship of the then IEE in 1981, and throughout history, the Royal Family has continued to support engineers across the world, taking an active interest in the development of engineering and technology in the UK.
IET President, Dr Gopichand Katragadda said: “We are proud of our long history of Royal association, which started with its incorporation by Royal Charter in 1921 and continued through the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for nearly 70 years.
“We’d like to thank His Majesty for recognising the work that we do, to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world."
