Gary James Lynch MIET sadly passed away in January 2022 at the age of 85 years old.
He initially started his career in the North East of England in shipbuilding ahead of moving into the Electricity Supply Industry, where he was again based in the North East before moving to Leeds for a few years.
In 1969, he moved to Edinburgh when became employed by the then North of Scotland hydroelectric board, which later became Scottish Hydro electric plc.
He was Principal Engineer in the Protection Section at the head offices based in Rothesay Terrace until he took early retirement in 1990.
The most enjoyable part of his job for him was the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful parts of the North of Scotland whilst working on many of his projects.
He enjoyed 31 years of retirement and was fit and well until the day he died.
Gary was a valued member of the IET for over 50 years, joining the IEE in 1960 and continuing his membership until 2016.
He will be sorely missed by all.
