A F Harvey Engineering Research Prize

Our most valuable prize fund, the A F Harvey Prize awards an annual research prize of £350,000 to phenomenal researchers working in the fields of radar and microwave, lasers and optoelectronics, or medical engineering.

Our search and selection panel scour the world for potential candidates each year, drawing on expansive international networks to reward the most innovative workers in these fields.

Congratulations to our 2023 winner – Professor Rachel McKendry

Professor McKendry is awarded the IET AF Harvey Engineering Research Prize 2023 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to research in the field of medical engineering and technology, specifically in the area of biosensors harnessing advances in quantum and digital technologies.

IET Futures Fund

Dr Arthur Frank Harvey left a sum of money in trust to the IET.

The terms of the Trust specify that the money is to be used for the furtherance of scientific research into the fields of medical, microwave, radar or laser engineering.

This generous action was the spark that launched what is now the IET's Futures Fund, the IET's dedicated fund to support STEM education.
