How do I log in?

Enter your username and password on the login page, and then click the login button. Once you’re logged in, the top of each page will change to a link to MyIET.

How do I request a username or get a password reminder?

You’ll find this option once you’ve clicked ‘login’ on the top of a page. You’ll need to enter your registered email address and surname.

A unique secure password reset link will be sent to your registered email address, which you’ll need to use within 48 hours.

When you click on this link, a password reset page will open in your browser and you’ll be able to enter and verify a new password.

If you’re still having problems or your e-mail address has changed since registering, you should contact the IET Webmaster for help. Give as much information as possible e.g. surname, old e-mail address, and if you are a member, please include your membership number and date of birth.

Why log in?

Logging in to the website will allow you to control your communications, group memberships etc. You’ll also be able to use the IET jobs service and save your favourites, manage your membership online, and access services like Career Manager.

Why did my login fail?

"Unfortunately, we could not validate your details" – you’ve probably entered your username and password incorrectly. You could request a password reset/username reminder and try again.

"Cookies. Please note that in order to log in to the Institution of Engineering and Technology website, you must have Cookies enabled. Please visit our cookies information page if you require more information" – this means cookies are disabled on your browser. Please adjust your settings and try again.

If you’re still unable to log in, contact the IET Webmaster with as many details as possible such as: any error messages, the type of browser and platform, whether or not you’re connecting via a firewall or proxy server, any security measures on your network that you are aware, your membership number.

Why am I getting a "Log in Security Warning"?

Our websites use a secure connection to transmit and verify passwords. Most browsers are set by default to display an alert box when users enter and leave a secure connection. Some browsers may also ask you to review and accept a site security certificate.

What should my password be?

Your password must have at least 12 characters, containing both uppercase and lowercase letters, at least two numbers, at least one special character (e.g. / : ?) and mustn’t contain your username, name or the first part of your email address.

If your password doesn’t meet these criteria, an error message will pop up to explain what’s wrong.
