The competence of an individual electrician is becoming increasingly important as companies strive to minimise re-work, ensure high safety standards to reassure the public and keep up with new technologies impacting the industry.
Having your electricians achieve EngTech is great for your business:
- Win more work – win contracts by having proof that each individual in your team has had their competence assessed as part of a robust peer-review process. The Recognised Standard Electrician EngTech is a competence framework that includes a focus on both safety and ethics, giving absolute reassurance to employers and clients.
- It’s a great recruitment tool – upskill your workforce to help recruit driven, ambitious employees by providing a clear career path for them to develop their knowledge.
- Lifelong benefits to your employees as IET members – including discounts on all publications, a benevolent fund, reward scheme discounts, and the opportunity to join local and technical networks, sharing knowledge and experience with other like-minded people.
- Gain recognition from the industry experts – have your employees professionally registered by the organisation that co-publishes BS 7671, a great sales message to your clients.
Providing support to employers
We can help your business to support your employees. We can arrange a complimentary Competence Workshop/webinar for your electricians, qualified supervisors, electrical team leaders and managers to get you started.
These workshops/webinars provide an overview of the IET and more on the benefits of registration. We also bring along a technical expert who will present on a technical topic relevant to your employees. This could be an IET Wiring Regulations overview or a session focussed on SPD’s or EV charging.
We also offer one to one sessions with a Professional Registration Advisor, where each employee will have the chance to get advice on their own application. We can arrange a follow-up session if required, where the PRA will help them to put the application together, ready for submission.
Email electechs@theiet.org to arrange a workshop or webinar.
In view of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot hold these sessions face to face at this time.
We’re upgrading our contact centre to make it quicker and easier for you to speak to the right member of our team.
From Thursday, 30 to Friday, 31 October, our phone lines will be temporarily unavailable while we upgrade our systems. For any urgent enquiries during this time, please email membership@theiet.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
From Monday, 3 November, we’re moving to one central phone number for all enquiries. This change will make it easier to reach the right team quickly and improve your experience.
Thank you for your patience as we improve how we connect with you.
