How do I register an account?
At the top of each page there is a link to "Login". Use this link to open the log-in page, which also carries links to register (either as a member or as a non-member).
If you are a member of the IET and you will need your membership number to register. For a reminder of your membership details, please contact the IET Member and Customer Service Department.
If you already have a non-member account but you are a member, please contact us. It is not currently possible for you to directly convert a non-member account to a member account.
Why should I register on the IET website?
You’ll need to register if you want to join the IET, book to attend one of our events, contribute to a discussion or buy a book on our website.
Members have access to member services such as Career Manager and various Library services. Registering as a member will allow you to manage your IET membership online and receive a discount on purchases from our online shop, and event booking. (See our ‘Benefits of membership’ page for a full description of benefits).
How should I construct my password?
Your password must have at least 12 characters, containing both uppercase and lowercase letters, at least two numbers, at least one special character such as printable punctuation marks and must not contain your name or email address.
The password form will reject entries that do not meet these requirements (e.g. a password that is too short or doesn’t contain any numbers).
I cannot register a new account as my email address is already registered
If you have previously registered using your email address and a password, you can reset your password if you've forgotten it. Click on the "Forgot your password?" link in the login form and follow the instructions on screen.
You may also have registered using a social media account (Facebook, Google or Office 365) associated with your email address. In this case, you will be able to log in to your account by using the relevant option in the login form (“Log in using Google” etc.).
What is the difference between a member and a non-member account?

I am a member with a non-member account. Can I convert my account?
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible for members to convert a non-member account to a member account. If you already have a non-member account but you are an IET member, please contact us.
