Description
Consultation on “Skills for sustainable growth”: Education for Engineering (E4E) comments to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Abstract
Engineering relies on the availability of a highly skilled workforce, and therefore the Government’s commitment to raising the skill level of the workforce is applauded. Increasing skill levels in engineering and technology must be a key priority of the skills strategy. Employer demands for business improvement will be a driver for a highly skilled workforce. The Professional Engineering community would welcome a more prominent role in matters associated with the development of the further education and skills sector. A more flexible qualifications framework based on the QCF model is far preferable to a proliferation of specialist qualifications.
