S872 - Consultation on the necessary skills for Northern Ireland’s future economy

Consultation on “Success through Skills 2”: IET comments to the Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland (DELNI).

Abstract The recognition of the importance of up-to-date science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills within the Northern Ireland workforce is welcomed, and the Department’s analysis and aspirations in this regard are supported. The implementation of cross-departmental working and the appointment of a STEM champion, who can drive forward the STEM agenda in government in close concert with business, education providers and the Sector Skills Councils, are recommended.
