Member of the Energy Policy Panel
John Loughhead is Executive Director of the UK Energy Research Centre and previously was Corporate Vice-President of Technology and Intellectual Property for the Alstom group, spending 11 years at its head office in Paris during his career in industrial research and development.
His present role is focused upon developing the evidence base required for establishing robust policies to deliver new sustainable energy systems. He thus has extensive interaction with UK Government bodies linking with energy policy development and new technology deployment, and is also a non-executive Director on the MoD R&D Board.
He is active internationally and is presently the UK-China Focal Point for energy, a member of the Executive of the European Energy Research Alliance, the Energy Committee of France’s Agence Nationale de Recherche, and the International Advisory Panel for the Australian Energy Innovation Programme and, until recently, of the European Advisory Group on Energy.
He is a Past-President of the IET.
