S1049 - The Electricity Sector in Northern Ireland

The Electricity Sector in Northern Ireland:IET comments to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee.

The electricity sector in Northern Ireland faces considerable challenges in terms of pricing, building resilience into the system and balancing interests,  as it strives to meet a target of providing 40% of electricity supply from renewable sources by 2020.  Flexibility, including investment in inter-connectors will be required. The task of developing UK energy policy objectives In the context of what is an all island electricity market will also require ingenuity.
