Tomorrow's Engineers Week (#TEWeek14) takes place from 3-7 November 2014 and aims to change perceptions of engineering among young people (focusing on 11-14s), their parents and teachers.

Skills pledge

The IET is calling for UK MPs to pledge to advocate stronger engagement between employers and the education system to help bridge the skills gap and inspire the next generation of engineers and technicians.

Engineering Skills: Perkins Review Progress Report

Tomorrow's Engineers Week 2014 includes the publication of a one-year-on progress report by Professor John Perkins. Engineering Skills: Perkins Review Progress Report, published in November 2014 by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), takes on many of the recommendations from the Perkins Review of Engineering Skills (published in November 2013). The new report has been written in partnership with the engineering community, including Stephanie Fernandes, who has been seconded from the IET to BIS.

Female engineers going back to the classroom

The IET and TeachFirst have arranged for a number of trailblazing female engineers to visit local schools across the UK to encourage more young girls to consider a career in engineering. You can find out more in this press release.
