We’re celebrating International Day of People with Disabilities

It is estimated that more than 1 billion people, across the world, are living with a disability. Of this number, around 450 million people are living with a hidden disability. In recognition of this, the theme for IDPWP 2020 is ‘Not all disabilities are visible’ to raise awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent.

To celebrate IDPWD on 3 December every year, PurpleSpace lead the Purple Light Up Day movement. #PurpleLightUp is a global movement that celebrates and draws attention to the economic contribution of the millions of disabled employees around the world.

At the IET we are committed to ensuring we create an environment where everyone feels confident and supported to bring their skills, commitment and energy to help us continue to engineer a better world.

To show our support for International Day of People with Disabilities and the Purple Light-Up celebration, we’ve created a video to celebrate our volunteers, members and colleagues across the IET.
