National Dyslexia Week, 5-11 October, is an annual event run by the British Dyslexia Association to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia.
This year’s focus is on creativity and we will explore the role that creativity plays within engineering. Those with dyslexia have an exceptional ability in complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and people management – all essential and highly regarded skills in engineering.
We are hosting our Engineered by Dyslexia webinar to showcase the stories of real-life engineers with dyslexia. The webinar will explore the links between dyslexia and engineering and will look at experiences of real-life engineers, their stories and how dyslexia has helped them in their jobs.
The webinar is taking place on Friday 9 October at 12.30pm BST via YouTube. The 30-minute webinar will be chaired by the IET’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Jo Foster, and feature four engineers who will share their experiences within the engineering community.
The webinar will end with a live Q&A session to give viewers the opportunity to speak to the engineers.
