The Construction Talent Retention Scheme, which will formally launch later this month, will be an online portal that supports redeployment of staff at risk of redundancy across the sector, while also enabling temporary employee loans between businesses. The Scheme gives displaced workers from other sectors a route to find new employment in construction.
The IET, which is part of the CLC group, welcomes this announcement and is actively supporting the initiative.
Blane Judd FIET, Chair of IET Built Environment Panel, said: “Professional Engineering Institutions such as the IET have long recognised how transferable skills work and are beneficial in engineering. The TRS scheme will help a wider community to gain the benefit of employing someone who already has an understanding of engineering principles, even if they are not from that specific sector. Access to that talent and skillset will help employers to rebuild the economy post COVID while taking advantage of government investment made in UK skills development through apprenticeships and graduate programmes.”
Businesses and employers are able to register their interest today and start posting at www.trs-system.co.uk/construction
