Welcome Login

You can now access multiple IET web platforms through single sign-on login

We’ve introduced a new, single sign-on service across our web platforms, providing a more streamlined and secure user experience. This enables you to access multiple IET web services including theiet.org and the IET Digital Library through one, single login session – so no need to remember multiple passwords in future.

Single sign-on is a secure login system provided by Microsoft that allows users to log in to multiple web services using one centralised login. Being a Microsoft service, it’s an automatically evolving system that means users will always benefit from industry best practice. Please note that we support current versions of web browsers. You will not be able to access the single sign-on portal if you are using IE11 or an older version of a web browser.

If you wish, instead of having to remember a password each time you want to log in to one of our websites, you can now log in using your preferred social media account from Facebook, Google, or if you are an IET volunteer and have a Volunteer Office 365 account for your role, you can choose this option. For Volunteers, there’s a separate options flowchart at the bottom of the Single Sign-On FAQ webpage.

For added security, we’re also offering users the option of setting up two-factor authentication. This provides an extra layer of security to safeguard your account whilst you’re online. To set up two-factor authentication, you’ll need to supply a preferred mobile or telephone number so that the system can generate a one-time passcode for you to use each time you log in to a new session.

What’s changing?

When you click on the ‘login’ button on one of our web platforms, you will see a new login screen that will prompt you to migrate your login details to the new self-service portal. This process is quick and simple, taking just a few minutes, and we’ve created a set of useful “How to” guides and videos to walk you through the process. When you migrate your account, you’ll be able to use your existing password when you first log on and you’ll need to demonstrate ownership of your registered email address by typing in a one-time verification code that will be generated for you. If you’ve forgotten your password, please check the FAQs to find out how to reset it before you migrate your details.

If you provide updated details through the login screen, please be aware that these won’t automatically update your user details in MyIET. Please remember to update your preferences in MyIET separately so that we know how you prefer to be contacted in future. Plus, if you already have a login account, please use the migrate options rather than creating a new account so that we can ensure your details aren’t duplicated.

There are two ways to migrate your existing login account details:

  1. If you’d like to continue logging in with a password in future, please click on the ‘migrate your account’ button on the top right-hand side of the screen.
  2. If you’d like to use your Facebook or Google login in future, please click on the second ‘Register as a member’ button on the right-hand side of the screen to migrate your login details.

This is a one-time process and, once migrated, you can then log in as normal through the links on the left-hand side of the screen. We’ve published a useful FAQ page on the IET website to help answer any queries. For hints and tips on migrating your login credentials, register for single sign-on or use the self-service portal, please refer to our “How to” video guides.

If you haven’t logged in to the IET website for a while, please log in and migrate your login details.
