Life has its ups and downs – there are good times and bad. But what do you do if the bad times feel like they’re taking over – and life feels hard to manage?
Mental health issues can affect many areas of our lives, including relationships, hobbies, social lives and work. In fact, one in four of us will experience mental ill health at some point this year. It can be an isolating and scary experience, but we are here to help.
For this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, the IET’s benevolent fund, IET Connect, is pleased to announce a new service in partnership with Anxiety UK.
The right treatment for you
The new service provides access to specialised therapy (counselling, CBT and hypnotherapy) for anxiety and anxiety-induced depression to all IET members and their families, including children over the age of seven. In addition to therapy, you will also have access to:
- online support communities
- guides and resources
- the acclaimed wellbeing app ‘Headspace’.
Elizabeth has just started her counselling sessions: “I was reluctant to ask for help because, on the surface, I was just about coping. Deep down I knew I couldn’t keep it up for long, so I got in touch with IET Connect and I’m so glad that I did. The process was really straightforward, and my therapist was able to see me soon after. The relief I now feel is immeasurable – I’m not 100% yet but I’m definitely on my way.”
With NHS waiting times on the rise, timely access to treatment has never been more important. We will ensure that you get your first therapy appointment within two to four weeks of contacting IET Connect.
Support when you need it
In addition to treatment for anxiety, we offer counselling funding for non-anxiety related conditions such as depression, which affects at least one in 10 adults in the UK.
If you or your partner could use some support in easing the pressures of life – please get in touch. We are every IET member’s first port of call in times of need - whether it’s big or small, financial, career or health-related.
Above all, we’re great listeners so if there’s something on your mind, give us a call on +44 (0)20 7344 5498 or email: email@example.com.
