Over 150 current and graduating students and apprentices met at IET London: Savoy Place on Friday 14 September to celebrate with their family and peers. The evening started with a brief welcome and congratulations from IET Scholarships Development Manager, Iris Hutchings, and current IET Diamond & Horizons Council Chair, Marnie McKay, before food, drinks and entertainment began – including a unique virtual reality experience!
It was a fantastic opportunity for current and graduating or apprenticeship-completing individuals to network with one another and meet previous Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award winners and finalists Dr Ozak Esu, Jamie D’Ath and Ellie Wilson. Attendees were also joined by Thomas Hlaing, Trustee and long-time volunteer; and Mark Goudie, 2017 Paul Fletcher Award winner and now Chair of the Engineering Horizons Panel.
Speaking at the event, Mark Goudie said: “This event gave me a great opportunity to network with our alumni and existing scholarship and bursary holders, and the chance to hear about their engineering journeys. The calibre of these individuals sets the bar very high and I know they will go from strength to strength in their careers.”
