Savoy Place is one of the venues taking part in this year's IET Engineering Open House Day
If you're looking for an educational and fun day out for young people with inquisitive minds during the summer holidays, then this year's Engineering Open House Day on Friday, 3 August 2018 could be for you.
Now in its fourth year, IET Engineering Open House Day aims to showcase engineering as a positive career choice. The IET is teaming up with well-known organisations and venues across the UK to welcome young people and their parents to this year’s IET Engineering Open House Day event, which takes place on Friday, 3 August 2018.
The BBC, EEF, Sellafield, The Brunel Museum, Thames Tunnel, the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Royal Mail and STFC Daresbury Laboratory, plus IET London: Savoy Place are just some of the venues to sign up so far to open their doors and host a range of activities, from behind the scenes tours to inspiring talks and demonstrations.
Last year’s event attracted more than 3,000 young people and their families who were keen to meet engineers and find out how creative and exciting a career in engineering could be. In the coming weeks, more venues and the activities taking place on the day will be announced on the IET Engineer a Better World website.
2018 is the UK Year of Engineering, which aims to celebrate the great contribution that engineering makes to society, and encourage more young people to join the profession and so we are expecting this year to be the biggest event yet!
If your company or organisation would like to get involved and host your own event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
