Tuesday 17 October marks the return of the IET Festival of Engineering (EngFest). This year's sell-out event at IET London: Savoy Place will be broadcast live online and there will be opportunities for viewers to ask questions via social media.

If you weren’t successful in this year’s ticket ballot for IET EngFest, there is still plenty of opportunity to follow the action live online. The full programme for the day is available on the IET EngFest website and there is also a full EngVentures programme for Key Stage 3 students. Both events will be broadcast live between 09.30-16.30 hrs UK time, including commentary from the IET.tv team who will be interviewing the participants and taking viewers behind the scenes.

This year’s Fast Forward conference speakers include Television Presenter, Rob Bell, Wireless Communications expert and cross-disciplinary innovator, Mischa Dohler, Innovation Director of Microsoft Research Cambridge, Haiyan Zhang and Chief Executive Officer of Mars One, Bas Lansdorp. With topics covering everything from getting humans to Mars and self-healing cities to Artificial Intelligence and future health technology, the event will be a packed and inspiring day.

The EngVentures event for younger viewers includes a series of hosted workshops exploring everything from electric motors and creating mobile apps to machine learning and digital construction. Aerospace Engineer, Baker and Presenter, Andrew Smyth, Astrobiologist, Lewis Dartnell, and Structural Engineer, Roma Agrawal are some of the presenters on the day.

Online viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the event via Twitter and Facebook using #IETengfest. To tune in to the live broadcast, please click on the IET.tv Fast Forward conference and EngVentures video links.

The broadcast schedules are available on the IET EngFest Live Broadcast webpage.

Please be aware that some member areas including the Faraday Centre, the Knowledge Centre and the Faraday Kitchen will be closed during IET EngFest. A lounge will be available in the Nuffield and Tesla rooms for IET members on the day.
