The prestigious IET A F Harvey Prize Lecture was held at the British High Commissioner's official residence, Eden Hall, in Singapore on 14 August 2017.

Dr Arseniy Kuznetsov, winner of the 2016 IET A F Harvey Engineering Research Prize, was invited to present his award-winning research on “Novel Resonant Dielectric Nanophotonics for Novel Technologies” at a special event that took place earlier this month in Singapore.

This is the first time that the IET A F Harvey Prize Lecture has taken place outside the UK, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the IET Awards team, IET Young Professionals Communities Committee including the IET On Campus groups at Nanyang Technological University and PSB Academy Singapore,  IET Singapore Network, the British High Commission in Singapore and the Agency for Science, Research and Technology (A*STAR) Singapore.

The event began with a networking dinner before Dr Kuznetsov, a Senior Scientist at A*STAR Singapore, presented a new concept of low-loss dielectric nanoantenna and its implementation in real-life devices, such as high-resolution spatial light modulators, which are proposed to be the major component of future 3D holographic displays and near-eye (augmented reality and virtual reality) devices.

The lecture was supported by Acting Deputy High Commissioner and Political Counsellor, Mr. Jonathon Darby; the A F Harvey Committee Chairman, Professor Sir John O’ Reilly, who opened the event; A*STAR Chairman, Mr. Lim Chuan Poh; Founding Dean of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Nanyang Technological University and Chairperson for the lecture, Professor Brian Lee; Director of the International Relations Office at the National University of Singapore, Professor Liew Ah Choy and IET Young Professionals Engagement Manager, Isabella Mascarenhas.

Dr Kuznetsov’s presentation is available to watch on IET.tv.
