IET Members are invited to a RedR UK panel discussion in London on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

The IET is a patron of RedR, the humanitarian disaster relief NGO. RedR targets disaster-prone countries and helps to rebuild lives by supporting and providing aid workers to relief programmes around the world. Many of the programmes require specialised engineering support and members of the IET have the opportunity to take part in upcoming events.

RedR UK is arranging a panel discussion on Earthquake Engineering on 28 June 2017 at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London between 18:30 hrs and 20:30 hrs BST.  Engineers are present throughout all stages of earthquake response, from the initial search and rescue to structural assessments, long-term recovery and rebuilding. Seismic design engineers also have a key role in designing structures to withstand earthquakes. The Panel brings together experts from various stages of earthquake engineering, including Andrew Hodgkinson, Director at Hewson Consulting who is sponsoring the event, and Katherine Coates. Associate Director and Earthquake Engineer at ARUP. The event is free to attend and anyone interested in taking part is asked to register on the website beforehand.
