Natasha Kaplinsky interviews IET Chief Executive Nigel Fine.

We are heading up a new online programme on engineering from ITN Productions.

The IET has been chosen by ITN Productions to headline a news programme on engineering. The aim is to promote greater understanding of the central role engineering plays in our society and economy.

TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky will host the programme, Working to Engineer a Better World, which will feature many different faces of engineering in the 21st Century – demonstrating how important engineering and technology have become to our everyday lives.

The programme will celebrate the success of innovative engineering and technology organisations and send a clear message to government that the industry is pivotal to future economic growth.

Working to Engineer a Better World will also be used to inspire more young people, particularly girls, to pursue a career in engineering – to help address the skills shortage currently facing the industry.

Combining a mixture of news reports, interviews and commentary from engineering big players, it will feature the IET’s forthcoming Parliamentary event to launch our 2014 Skills Survey and our education initiatives such as the FIRST® LEGO® League robotics competition.

You can see a preview of Natasha Kaplinsky’s interview with our Chief Executive, Nigel Fine, on our ITN Productions page.

The full programme will be premiered at the IET Innovation Awards on 19 November 2014 at the Brewery, London.
