“We are encouraged to see investments in traineeships and apprenticeships, but it will be vital for organisations to play their part in taking up the opportunity to invest in the future workforce to ensure this is a success.
“It is also imperative that we also look after those that stand to lose their jobs, so the government’s support to encourage businesses to bring people back to work after furlough, ensuring they don’t lose their skills is a good move. Further support for reskilling the existing workforce is crucial, particularly as we move to a green jobs’ revolution.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, we must see the government taking a flexible approach in their response to returning us to a prosperous economy. The engineering and technology sectors are vital to this.”
