IET.tv scoops Gold NYX Award

IET.tv’s winning videos follow the inspiring stories of six young female engineers who were the finalists of the IET’s Young Woman Engineer (YWE) of the Year Awards in 2019.

The prestigious YWE awards honour the very best early-career female engineers working in the UK today. The awards celebrate women working in modern engineering – and aim to help change the perception that engineering is predominantly a career for men by banishing outdated engineering stereotypes of hard hats and dirty overalls.

The videos created by IET.tv feature real-life engineers talking about their fulfilling and exciting careers, as well as some of the obstacles they have had to overcome to get to where they are today.

As well as highlighting female engineering talent, the IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year Awards seek to find role models who can help address the UK science and engineering skills crisis by promoting engineering careers to more girls and women. Just 12% of those working in engineering occupations are women (source: Engineering UK).

The IET.tv team built six sets under one roof, one for each finalist, so they were able to capture all of the narrative content from the finalists in one day. Shot with three Sony PXW-FS7 cameras, the team created set designs that reflected the finalists engineering discipline or personality and used an Astera Titan LED tube lighting to give the videos a modern pop.

Formerly known as GlobalTrend Awards, the NYX Awards celebrate the best marketing, communications and video concepts and is one of the best premier creative awards in the industry today.

On winning, Head of IET.tv, Mark Reynard, said: “The IET.tv team have once again shown that a small team can produce engaging, high quality and inspirational content that can compete with any of the big video agencies. YWE is a fantastic event and each year the award videos get better and better. It’s been a very busy and tough few months during the lockdown, but this award is a fantastic achievement and a real lift for the team and will spur us all on for the rest of the year.”
