The IET is closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak and like many other organisations, we are continuing to follow guidance provided by the World Health Organization and the UK Government. Given the current status of the pandemic, and due to the uncertainty as to whether the current restrictions will have been lifted by July, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Engineering Open House Day.
Engineering Open House Day is only possible thanks to the support of organisations and venues across the UK, as well as STEM ambassadors, IET members, volunteers and colleagues, and we would like to personally thank them for their ongoing support of our campaign to inspire the next generation of engineers and technologists.
We will deliver Engineering Open House Day on Friday 23 July next year, as part of our 150th anniversary and our Open House events will form part of activities to mark this milestone.
In the meantime, with schools now closed in the UK, the IET is supporting children and parents, as well as teachers teaching remotely, with a range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) resources. These provide free home-learning teaching resources and activities for both primary and secondary school children, including lesson plans, handouts and videos.
