There are six IET Sector Executive Committee panels covering the following topics: Built Environment, Design and Production, Energy, Healthcare, Information and Communications and Transport. Through the committees, the IET champions the professional interests of these sectors to Governments and the wider public while also working together with members to identify and address major current and future engineering and technology challenges.
Appointment of Committee Members is made by agreement of the relevant Sector Executive Committee Chair and the Head of the IET’s Strategic Engagement and Partnerships (SEP) department and will be based on recognition of relevant expertise and appropriate position within the topic area. Chair appointments are made by the Board of Trustees and the Head of SEP on the recommendation of the Nominations and Succession Committee.
The Chair leads the Committee in defining what areas the Sector covers and where the IET can add the most value, while also identifying and introducing to the key volunteers who will enhance the existing team and help take the Sector forward.
Each Sector Executive Committee Chair also represents their associated Sector as a member of the Sector Steering Committee, which reports into the Knowledge Services and Solutions Board.
