Introducing the IET equality, diversity and inclusion strategy
We recently launched an IET Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy. This document sets out the rationale behind the strategy, and the areas we want to focus on, so we can reach under-represented groups in future. It also ensures that we align our efforts to the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) and Science Council Diversity and Inclusion Progression Framework Tool so that as an institution, we reflect the behaviours that we promote – and we need your support.
We want to ensure that the actions represent our membership base and the countries in which we operate. We’d like you to get involved by interpreting the strategy in your local community and getting involved in activities to support and embed the strategy.
The strategy has been written with a focus on the current situation in the UK where we need to address the skills shortage that threatens UK industry by widening the talent pool within engineering and technology. However, the guiding principles within the strategy, such as inclusion and engaging with and celebrating the achievements of engineers and technicians from multiple diversity strands, have a global reach.
