Dr Graeme West from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde and Professor William Nuttall, Professor of Energy at the Open University were the main speakers at this event.
Civil nuclear in Scotland provides around half of the energy consumption of the country. Both remaining power stations are near the end of their working lives. Nonetheless, there is a considerable nuclear legacy in Scotland and substantial activity in new nuclear generation is planned for England and Wales.
