Electrical safety – a perspective based on incidents
The nature of electrical safety risks will, of course, depend on the industrial context as will the way that these risks are controlled.
This Health and Safety Policy Advisory Group discussion paper provides information about electrical safety incidents and the serious nature of the issue. For discussion purposes, it highlights the eight steps proposed that organisations might undertake to reduce the number of future incidents.
Comments about these steps from members, and experienced, interested non-members, as part of this discussion process, are welcomed. Details for the submission of comments are given at the end of the paper. It is hoped that this discussion will enable the IET to produce guidance, in the future, on electrical safety incident avoidance
