As part of our contingency planning, we have adopted a three-stage response, which is being led by the UK Government’s updates on the situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. The key stages we are following are Contain; Delay and Mitigate.
Unfortunately, as we introduce new measures to reduce the impact of the Coronavirus it is likely these may result in some reduction in service to our members and customers.
In line with the UK Government’s instruction, our venues at Austin Court in Birmingham and Savoy Place in London are now closed to the public. We will continue to review this and provide updates as soon as we are able. These are necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our members, volunteers, colleagues and other customers.
We have also cancelled or postponed all IET events taking place until June, including all our Local Network events around the world. We will continue to review official guidance or instruction issued by the UK government and provide updates to any changes to these arrangements as they are made. In the meantime, if you have any queries about an event you were due to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
IET colleagues will be in contact with their Volunteers, Local and Technical Networks and OnCampus Groups to advise which events will need to be postponed. We are currently looking into how we can utilise streaming platforms to best support our volunteers by providing alternative solutions such as virtual events.
Our digital services including MyIET, IET Engineering Communities, IET Academy, Inspec, our Digital Library and online resources are all still available, as is Career Manager where you can continue to log your CPD.
Our Customer Services team is also on hand to help you. Some of the team is now working from home, so this will have an impact on the way calls are handled. However, we aim to keep any reduction in service to a minimum. If you need assistance, please call our Membership Services number: +44 (0)1438 765678.
We are proactively supporting ongoing efforts to delay the virus to ensure the safety of our volunteers, members, colleagues and everyone we work with. We will review the situation daily and ensure we maintain frequent communications with you.
