Good evening all,

I'm a newly qualified spark and today whilst on site I saw a chap with a clever piece of kit...We were both looking at the consumer unit and none of the 20 odd MCB's were labeled.
He had this piece of equipment that he plugged into a socket upstairs (4th Floor) and then downstairs at the consumer unit had this type of wand (looked like a voltage tester) that he waved across the MCB's in turn until the one associated with the socket upstairs made his wand beep...I think the machine upstairs sent a charge through the line?

My question is - Whats this piece of equipment called?

Many thanks

Hello. It could have been the Martindale FD650.

The generic term is a fuse finder.
