was shown a supposedly very good hand hydraulic crimp tool the other day, however it looked quite 'old' by todays shapes and makes

dies looked like a proper piece of engineering

metal plate on it said AMP de France and a serial number (cant remember it).

(i will try upload a photo somewhere at some point)

anyway and in the mean time, one for the 'oldies' errm experienced sorts perhaps (without wishing to offend by being age-ist), who may have come across the brand before.......... has any one heard of AMP de France, are they still on the go, etc

i cant find anything about it/them so far

AMP are certainly well known for crimps - I didn't know where they were based, but France seems as plausible as anywhere.

Google seems to think they're associated with TE Connectivity now - although I might be misinterpreting that.
